How to Wear High Waisted Pants

How to Wear High Waisted Pants

I’m incredibly happy to discuss how to wear high-waisted pants with you.

They may appear to be a newer fashion, but they’ve been around since the 1920s, when modern tailoring first emerged.

This implies that there is a lot of history with them from which you can draw inspiration while also adding your own modern twists.

Let’s get started.

What Are High-Waisted Pants?

Anything that hits just around the top of your hip bone or near your belly button is considered high waist.

Unless you’re going really high waisted, it’s not nearly as high as your belly button, but that’s the overall area that would be considered a high waist.

Because everyone’s body are different, it’s possible that it will differ slightly for you.

Sticking with something comparable to a chino pant style in terms of materials is a good idea because they’re comfy, versatile, and you can wear them in a variety of ways, giving you a lot of practice to develop your comfort level.

Once you’ve gotten used to it, you may go on to wool trousers and other similar outfits for dressier looks as well as vintage-inspired styles.

Finally, if you’ve tried all of those options or simply don’t care for either, try some jeans. They’ll be a touch more fashion-forward, but they’ll still be a lot of fun to mix and match with your casual outfits to amp up your style.

How to Style and Wear High-Waisted Pants

As I previously stated, one of the simplest ways to come up with outfit ideas is to look back at historical men’s fashion and then make little modern adjustments where appropriate.

We’ll start with some slightly warmer outfit ideas because it’s spring in the United States right now.

Starting with a polo shirt or a short sleeve button-up shirt tucked into your high-waisted pants, you’re good to go.

It’s light, breathable, and not overtly bold or fashionable, but it still looks fantastic. It takes direct inspiration from the old school outfits.

You could easily wear this up for a night out, especially if you use darker colors.

You may even wear it during the day and look incredibly fashionable while walking around town.

Simply choose your footwear based on your activities. If you’re going out for the evening, consider a loafer or a lovely pair of boots. Something that adds a touch of class to your ensemble.

If you’re heading out during the day and want to keep things a little more casual, a lovely minimal sneaker is ideal because it’s comfortable, easy to walk around in, and still looks great with your outfit.

If you live in a warmer region, you could wear this outfit all year and still look great. It’s also a great option for the spring and summer months.

However, if it’s cooler  time of year or you live somewhere where it’s always cooler, wear the same outfit on the inside and then throw on a jacket, sweatshirt, or whatever you want on the outside to warm up a little bit and you’ll still look amazing.

If chino pants aren’t your style and you’d rather go for something a little more dressy, there are two ways to go with high-waisted pants in the trouser style.

Keep your pants as the dressiest component of your outfit and surround them with incredibly casual pieces, such as a graphic tee and sneakers with some accessories.

This is a great outfit for times I want to seem upscale casual or fashion forward but don’t want to look stuffy in a dress shirt and blazer.

You can go in that route, or you can go in the opposite direction and dress up the whole outfit to appear really great.

This is a fantastic return to that classic 1920s tailoring I discussed before, with a dress shirt, sports coat, and maybe dress shoes or loafers.

I, too, am a huge lover of sports coats. The way the coat and pants go together, yet not so much that it seems like a suit. They are in some ways diametrically opposed.

That is fantastic. It’s extremely retro-inspired, and it’s definitely something you could wear to an outdoor wedding or something a little more laid-back.

Finally, if you want to try the jeans I mentioned before, going into a super 90s vibe is really smart because it’s so trendy right now and I think it looks wonderful.

I particularly enjoy wearing jeans with an oversized rugby polo. I just think the whole aesthetic is fantastic. It’s classic Ralph Lauren, and it’s very good, but it’s not overly fancy. It’s a little more laid-back, and it’s going to seem casual.

It’s on the cutting edge of fashion, but it’s not overbearing. It’s simply lovely, and it goes perfectly with a pair of Converse sneakers.

The entire outfit makes you look like you just stepped out of the 90s in the greatest conceivable way.

Where to Get High-Waisted Pants?

You now know how to style yourself in high-waisted pants in a variety of ways.

But where am I going to get these items?

The thrift store is my favorite spot to go because it’s where I’ve had the most success.

For years, many people got rid of all of their high-waisted pants and trousers since they were no longer fashionable. They’re now widely available in vintage and thrift stores.

Find a pair that fits you well around the waist, and then get them tailored if they’re too long, too wide, or too baggy. Simply ensure that they fit around your waist, and the rest of the pant is simply adjustable.

That’s what I did with the last outfit I styled with the black ones. I bought them for ten dollars at a thrift store and had them tailored for another ten dollars.

They are, without a doubt, my favorite pair of high-waisted pants.

However, if you choose not to wear previously owned pants, I completely understand; Basic Rights is a fantastic brand. They’re fantastic, and I adore them. They’re a little more expensive, but they’ll last you a long time.

I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style because they’re not too high-waisted and match with so many various outfits.

For additional cost-effective solutions. Asos has several excellent options. There are numerous colors and cuts to choose from.

They can be a touch baggy, but as long as they fit around your waist, you can always have them tailored to be a little more tapered or simply fitting in other places.

My jeans were purchased from Zara’s women’s division. The women’s section is not to be overlooked.

They have some really great items, especially in terms of higher waisted pants, in my opinion.

I truly hope this was of assistance to you. Don’t be a squeamish bystander; join the bandwagon. High-waisted pants are comfortable, stylish, and extremely adaptable. You can wear them with a variety of outfits.
