How to Wear Wide Leg Cropped Pants (3 Styles)

How to Wear Wide Leg Cropped Pants

Who’s having trouble figuring out how to wear those cropped, wide-leg pants? Anyone?

I’m going to show you three different ways to wear cropped jeans or culottes.

Even though I just looked up the definition of a culotte pant vs. a gaucho pant, I’m still not sure which style of pant I’m talking about.

So, basically, a gaucho is a wide-leg, high-rise pant with a cuff at the bottom that comes to approximately mid-calf.

The culotte pant is a high-rise, wide-leg pant that is cut to look like a skirt and usually hits somewhere between the knee and the mid-calf.

So I believe these pants are culottes because they resemble a skirt but are mid-calf in length. Gauchos and culottes can both be mid-calf length.

So, I believe these are culottes, but it’s difficult to tell. Don’t worry it, and don’t get caught up in the jargon.

Here, we’ll just refer to them as cropped pants. That way, everyone is satisfied.

These cropped pants can be difficult to wear since, unlike a full-length trouser, a cropped trouser will shorten you rather than elongate your frame.

It’s a little difficult to style them. I’m going to show you three different ways to wear them, ranging from dressy to casual.

Very Casual Look

Let’s start with a very casual outfit. I simply paired these cropped pants with a cropped sweatshirt and a pair of extremely comfy, stylish, and attractive ankle boots.

If you do want to wear a sweatshirt with the pant, make sure it’s a streamlined sweatshirt that has a little bit of shape and gives you a shape, rather than a big large, old-school sweatshirt.

In addition, this sweatshirt is cropped. It does, in fact, draw attention to the waist, which I believe is vital. However, if you don’t have a cropped one, you could pair it with a very thin or lightweight sweatshirt and tuck it in at the top to achieve the similar effect.

You can experiment with what you currently have in your closet or drawer to avoid having to go out and buy something new for the pants.

This cropped sweatshirt happened to be in my closet. That’s why I paired it with these pants, but you could also wear it with a lightweight sweatshirt and tuck it in a little bit.

Then I put on my Echo boots. They are quite comfy; in fact, the booties have technology built into them to make them so. This is something you’d wear on if you had a long day ahead of you. You’ll be walking a lot, you’ll be on your feet a lot, you’ll be dashing from errand to errand, and you’ll need to be functioning. But you also want to appear put-together.

Elevated Casual Look

The next look I’d like to discuss is a more elevated casual look. It might simply transition from your errands or the office during the day to the evening.

It’s absolutely suitable for use during the day. It’s more formal than the first approach.

I wear a turtleneck with a subtle puffed sleeve and a hint of a balloon sleeve, but not too much of a balloon sleeve, which allows me to wear it beneath coats.

Then I wear it with a pair of loafer flats. A mule or a slide are also options. You may even go for a sophisticated bootie, a pump, or a strappy shoe to dress it up even further.

You can experiment around with the footwear, but I think a daily slide is really comfy and stylish. You’re productive, and your feet are content. It’s a wonderful midday style with an elevated casual vibe.

Look For the Office

The final look I’d like to discuss is a way to wear cropped pants to work.

Underneath a blazer, you’ll wear your cropped pants with a shell, some form of blouse, silky blouse. That may be a cami, a shell, a silky blouse with short sleeves, a silky blouse with long sleeves, a patterned blouse, or a bow blouse.

Simply glance through your closet to see what you have. If you’re wearing black everything else, this is a good place to add some color. You may go for a more lace-up look. You can experiment with different prints and colors.

The only thing I would suggest is that it be made of a very thin fabric so that you can tuck it in to emphasize the waist, which is what you want to do with this high-rise pant. especially if it has a very attractive belt.

I’m dressed casually in a black blazer. It’s easy to get caught up in the fact that this blazer is from this brand, and these pants are from this brand, and the blacks don’t quite match.

Don’t be concerned about it. It’s all right. It’s OK to have a variety of tones and textures. Don’t be concerned.

It creates a sort of makeshift, really chic and modern suit for the office, so when you’re sick of being the same old you, you can pull something like this out, and you could even wear a really pretty blouse with the culottes or cropped pants and think of it that way, really simplifying it for the office.
