5 Controversial Fashion Trends (Unpopular With Some Women)

controversial fashion trends

In this article, I’d like to discuss some of the most controversial fashion trends, style suggestions, and pieces that many women despise. But also, why I stand behind them.

Half Tuck

I’m going to start with the half tuck.

I’ve seen a lot of bad feedback regarding the half tuck: it looks sloppy, it’s messy, I don’t like it, it emphasizes my tummy.

I like the half tuck since it’s an easy method to define the waist that doesn’t feel too forced or fussy.

Simply put, a half tuck is when you take your shirt and tuck it in slightly in the front. You can complete the front or the side, whichever makes you pleased, and then skip the sides and back.

That is the essence of the half tuck.

For those of you who are adamantly averse to the half tuck, there are other options. You can obviously tuck it all the way in, which is a pretty nice look. A shirt with a rounded hemline can also be worn. The rounded hem elongates the legs while also providing waist.

If your issue with the half tuck is your tummy, this is the option to choose.

You may also wear a wrap shirt to hide the tummy and give you a defined waist without having to do the tuck.

Another option for a neater half tuck is to remove your shirt and fold it vertically on both sides, then wrap your transparent plastic hair tie around the bottom and tuck in the small tail.

This could be a neater, cleaner, better option if you don’t like the random look of the half tuck.

As a result, I love the half tuck because it does help to define the waist. The top of your pants is visible, lengthening the legs. Pulling the sides of a shirt out slims the sides, which I appreciate. The back creates a little forgiveness at the bottom area.

It creates off an air of effortless look, in my opinion.

It’s a little more classic when you tuck it all the way in; it’s quite put together, but it may also look fussy or too put together.

That’s why I favor the haphazard half-tuck look. You do, however, have alternative options.

Golden Goose Sneakers

Golden Goose sneakers are the second controversial fashion item that is unpopular with some women.

I completely understand why these are so controversial.

For starters, they’re ridiculously costly. They’re not inexpensive; they’re outrageously pricey for sneakers. They range in price from $400 to $650 each pair.

For years, I resisted purchasing a pair. I said to myself, “There is no way I’m spending that much for a pair of sneakers.”

Then I decided I had to get a pair just to test them on and see if they were worth it. What happened was the opposite.

I purchased these and fell in love with them right away, right out of the box.

I can walk for miles and miles in them because they are so comfortable. I’ve traveled in them. They go with everything: dresses, shorts, pants, jeans, and so forth.

Those who hate the Golden Goose hate the price. I completely understand.

Another thing you don’t like about them is that they look to be dirty. They’re supposed to look worn in and broken in. That’s the whole idea.

If you don’t like the look, Golden Goose has several more cleaner options. They’re introducing all-white pairs.

A beautiful pair of sneakers that you can wear with dresses, pants, jeans, and shorts is important. Ones that you love, are extremely comfy, and make you feel fantastic. What type they are is less important.

White Pants and Jeans

White pants and jeans are the next controversial fashion trend.

What is the reason for this?

People make comments like, “I won’t wear white because it gets dirty,” or “I don’t like white because it makes me look bigger.”

All of these points are valid.

However, I adore wearing white, especially in the spring and summer. It’s so fresh, it feels so summertime, it’s so light, it reflects the sun and keeps you cool. It has a very feminine feel to it.

Because denim is a little thicker, it’s easier to keep white jeans or white denim clean. If I had to choose between a white pant and a white jean, I would choose the white jean.

If you don’t want to go with brilliant white, another option is to go with off-white or cream, which is really fashionable right now.

There are tons of options in this color.

Yes, it’ll get dirty, and it’ll make you look bigger than black or navy, but it could be a good approach to get your foot in the door.

Another idea is to look for a thicker fabric when purchasing white pants or jeans. Denim that is thicker and not see-through is more wearable and forgiving, as it hides lumps and bumps.

It’s preferable if they’re looser fitting. Instead of skintight skinnies, opt for a pair with a broader leg. They’re more forgiving and comfortable. The wider leg creates you a slimmer waist.

When it comes to white jeans or pants, I normally size up one size since I prefer them to be a little roomier. That super-tight fit isn’t for me. With those white pants and jeans, I need some space. You’ll stay cooler as a result of this. It appears to be more flattering, and it appears to be better overall.

Never, ever put your white pants or white jeans in the dryer to keep them white. Do not dry your white clothes ever. They can be hung or laid flat. When you dry them, any stain you have becomes permanent, and you’ll never be able to remove it.

Blazers

Blazers are the fourth controversial item.

Blazers produce a lot of complaints because they are tough to fit. Unless it’s a really enormous oversized blazer, the shoulders must fit correctly and the shoulder seam must sit in the right place.

Then there’s the issue of breasts that are too large to fit inside the blazer; the waist is too small, and the breasts are too large. That’s a whole other fit issue.

Blazers are one of my favorite pieces of clothing since they add sophistication and polish to any ensemble. You can look great with a t-shirt and jeans with a blazer on top.

I stand behind them. They’re fantastic, they’re awesome, in my opinion.

If you’re going to buy a blazer this season, opt for one that’s a little longer and oversized. If you’re having trouble finding the right fit, now is the time to try on an oversized blazer.

It doesn’t have to be the ultra-tailored fit we’ve seen in the past. For those of you with a longer torso, it can be a little slouchier, a little oversized in the shoulder, in the body, and with a longer hemline. If you have a large bust, it may be baggier.

If you have a large bust and are having trouble fitting a blazer, make sure you’re wearing something below that defines the waist. The blazer should not be closed. To give your waist, you should reveal the waistband of your pants or a belt.

Blazers add refinement and sophistication to any look, elevating it. They certainly serve a valuable purpose. Experimenting is worthwhile. If you haven’t been able to find one in the past, try a slightly bigger option, such as one of the more recent oversized options.

All that being said, if you still hate blazers, try a sweater, a leather jacket, a bomber jacket, or a cardigan. You can choose from a variety of alternatives that will produce the same result.

Pointed Toe Shoes

Pointed toe shoes are the last controversial fashion trend or item that is unpopular with some women.

You look them because they are uncomfortable, destroy your feet, have a narrow toe box, and resemble witch shoes.

This is why I stand them.

They’re extremely feminine, elongating the body, making your legs appear longer, and making you appear thinner and taller. They have a high level of sophistication. They truly bring the look together.

A pointed toe shoe, on the other hand, can be extremely confining. It can be really uncomfortable in the toes.

There are options with broader toe boxes, which is what you should look for if comfort is a concern.
