Jean Paul Gaultier Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture show by Ludovic de Saint Sernin at Paris Haute Couture Week.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2025 Couture collection, guest-designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, embraced a “Le Naufrage” (“Shipwreck”) theme, drawing inspiration from a music video featuring Seal and Mylène Farmer and a 1997 Gaultier showpiece. The collection showcased a range of imaginative designs, including:
- A pale seafoam, off-the-shoulder corset paired with a sequin-scaled skirt, evoking a mermaid aesthetic.
- A nearly-nude bodice with an anchor motif attached to a delicate lace skirt.
- A ghostly bride and groom ensemble, featuring period dress embellished with feathers and beading.
The show featured notable models such as Paloma Elsesser, Alex Consani, Candice Swanepoel, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The front row included celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion, Jennie Kim, Rick Owens, Michèle Lamy, Hunter Schafer, and Rachel Sennott.
De Saint Sernin’s designs highlighted both traditional craftsmanship, such as plissé Grès in swirling constructions, and innovative materials like dark gray latex mimicking crocodile skin. The collection balanced sensuality and sophistication, reflecting both his and Gaultier’s design philosophies.
