Plus Size Fashion Tips and Advice

plus size fashion tips

Here, I’m giving my plus-size fashion advice and tips so that you curvy ladies can always look fabulous.

I’ve styled ladies of various shapes and sizes over the years, and I’ve picked up a few tips and tricks along the way.

I’m going to share them with you here, so keep reading if you’re a beautiful curvy girl or know someone who is.

Embrace Your Curves

My first and most crucial piece of advice is to appreciate what you have.

Don’t be afraid to embrace your curves. I frequently observe ladies attempting to conceal their curves by smothering themselves in layers of clothes.

All this does is highlight your features and make you appear larger.

Tailoring

If you have trouble finding clothes that fit, you may need to seek out a skilled tailor.

A small amount of tailoring may make a huge impact in the appearance and feel of something.

Go For More Colors

Another thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t limit yourself to blacks and neutrals.

Yes, blacks and neutrals are slimming, but they’re so dull. Why should your options be limited simply because you are plus size?

Unless you adore blacks and neutrals, I’ve never believed that’s something you should do. That’s great; go ahead and do it.

Wide Belts

A curvy girl’s best buddy is a wide belt.

They’re great because they nip you in at your body’s narrowest point. They can also be used to conceal extra cloth.

They’re a fantastic addition to any curvaceous girl’s wardrobe.

Wear All One Color

Wearing a single hue from head to toe is always a great look.

You don’t have to stick to black or neutrals. It doesn’t matter if your favorite color is fuchsia or red.

It’s always flattering to wear that top from head to toe.

Patterns

Pieces with patterns are ideal. This is due to the fact that they lead your eyes to become confused.

Your attention isn’t drawn to any one part of your body in particular. They’re the pinnacle of illusion dressing.

Quality Underwear

It’s also crucial to get high-quality underwear.

I’m not talking about shapewear; I’m talking about high-quality underwear.

That is a fantastic basis for any outfit.

Wear What Makes You Happy

I also believe it is critical to dress in a way that makes you happy.

Wear crop tops if you’re a curvy female who enjoys them.

You’ll exude confidence and feel wonderful about yourself if they make you happy. And if you’re happy with yourself, you’ll look good.

Lengths

Another suggestion is to pay close attention to where the pieces land on you.

If you wear a top that falls at the widest portion of your body, such as right over your hips, the eye will naturally be pulled to that area.

It draws attention to that area of your body, which is why I prefer scooped hemlines on shirts and tops. They are effective on all people.

Simply be conscious of where things fall on you. This also applies to skirts and pants. You don’t want anything to fall at your body’s broadest point.

Stretchy Jacket

Jackets with elasticized waistbands are ideal for curvy women.

I’m not talking about the old-school elasticized jackets. There are a lot of interesting possibilities available.

I’ve seen some incredible denim jackets with a panel on the inside of the sleeve.

A lot of pretty nice stretchable fitted jackets are also available. Pieces that appear to be fitted and have shape, but are made of elastic fabrics.

These are something I recommend to a lot of my clients, but they’re really good for curvy girls. Because they’re so comfortable, you can wear them with layers underneath and yet appear put-together.

Avoid High Necklines

If you have a larger bust, you should avoid wearing necklines that are too high.

You will need to adjust your proportions somewhat.

A v-neck line or a deep scoop will appear more attractive on you, as long as there is a little bit of skin visible.

It creates a more even proportion and very slightly balances things out.

It’s nice to see a little skin here and there. You don’t want to hide everything.

Waterfall Lapels

Jackets with gorgeous waterfall lapels are also quite flattering when it comes to jackets.

They create the illusion of length by drawing an invisible line down your body, which is always flattering.

Don’t Limit Yourself

What I believe is most important for plus-size women is to not limit themselves and to not believe that there are particular styles that they cannot wear.

It’s all about figuring out how to wear them in a way that makes you feel good and looks amazing.

Take, for example, a bodycon dress. You could believe that to wear these dresses, you need a “perfect body.” You don’t.

Make this look your own if you like it.

When I’m styling curvier clients in extremely fitting dresses like a bodycon dress, I like to add extra layer, whether it’s a denim shirt or a really stunning little black glittering knit cardigan, and wrap it around their waist.

It works by providing a visual cue that draws the eye away from the object.

So if you’re wearing something that is really fitted and hugging every single curve, if you put something around your waist, your eyes are immediately drawn to that piece.

When your waist is the tiniest area of your body, you’re usually highlighting it.

It’s also relaxing to have something to sit on.

Stretch Waistbands

Elasticized waistbands are also fantastic. You don’t have to be embarrassed to wear them.

One of my favorite designers recently released a terrific pair of pants, which I recently purchased. Although they are fitted, they are composed of a stretchy fabric. They also include a rear elasticized waist band.

These pants are incredible because they’re fitted and structured, but they’re also quite comfortable because they hug my body.

These types of pants are ideal for curvy women. They’re forgiving, but fitted, and we’ll help you shape up.

Maternity Wear

I’ve also styled several of my plus size females in maternity attire, which has elasticated waistbands.

In the last few years, maternity brands have really stepped up their game and are now producing beautiful pants and skirts. Some of the maternity jeans are really fantastic.

It’s not as if I’m thinking to myself, “Well, my client isn’t pregnant, so we can’t go into the maternity stores.”

It’s all about putting together a style and an outfit that works, is comfortable, and looks good.

Don’t count out going to a maternity store to see if there’s anything there.

Accessories

Don’t overlook the importance of accessories. They’re a quick and easy way to dress up a plain clothing.

Scarves, bold necklaces, jewelry, sunglasses, and hats are just a few examples. Don’t undervalue the importance of nice accessories.

That is all there is to it. I hope you found some of these plus size fashion tips and advice helpful.
