Want to look great and stylish at all times? Here are ten basic fashion items that every man needs to elevate his style game.
Classic Sweater
The classic sweater is the first essential fashion piece that every man needs in his collection to appear attractive.
The sweater, often known as a jumper, is not only fashionable but also practical. It’s one of those things that’s simple to put on and looks great.
There are a few exceptions to this. You want to make sure the sweater is a good fit for you. You want to be sure it has a classic design and is made of high-quality materials.
For instance, a maroon turtleneck. You may wear it with dark jeans and boots.
It’s very simple, but it distinguishes you at the same time.
Change up the style if turtlenecks aren’t your thing. A traditional crew neck is a good choice. Also, pay close attention to the material.
Cashmere wool is extremely soft, but it is also slightly more expensive. Wool, particularly finer wools, is perfectly fine and excellent at insulating heat.
Cottons, on the other hand, do not fare as well at insulating heat, but they are more cheap.
Synthetics can appear nice at first, but after a few washes, they usually start to exhibit wear and tear.
Then there’s this blue V-neck sweater. This isn’t going to win any awards for creativity, but you know what it will accomplish? Makes almost any man seem good.
A darker hue combined with a V-neck will bring attention to your chest and make you appear more masculine.
Fashionable Footwear
A little bit of attractive footwear is the next fashion basic that should be in every man’s wardrobe.
Many folks assume I’m talking about dress shoes when I say trendy footwear.
This is not the case.
You may simply dress up your everyday casual wear and you’ll look great in no time. You’re updating your style, and this is a simple approach to make your everyday style better.
So get rid of your running shoes and replace them with a great pair of sneakers. You can try something a little more complex.
A blue suede was combined up with a leather for me.
If that’s too much for you, stick to a classic, like white in leather. What I enjoy about it is that it makes cleaning a lot easier.
If you choose high-quality leather, this will look great with any casual attire.
Those of you who prefer high tops should choose a style that suits you. My shoes are a traditional brown leather with a high contrast sole.
In the spirit of contrast, your work shoe does not have to be dull, especially if you dress up a little.
Many individuals believe that you must always wear a classic dress shoe.
This is not the case.
The contrast is fantastic. Blue suede was blended together with the leather. I adore the combination of blue and brown. That looks fantastic and goes with a wide range of my wardrobe.
To be clear, contrast does not necessitate the use of different materials. The tiny color changes are what draws attention to these shoes while still retaining the formality.
It’s important to pay attention to the style elements. A simple pair of dress shoes with only a hint of broguing distinguishes the shoe and gives a touch of elegance that can be worn in a conservative setting.
Well-fitted Denim
Well-fitted denim is next on my list, and what do I mean by that?
The way your jeans fit is quite important. You want to be certain that the style you choose is appropriate for your body shape.
The general guideline is that if you’re a bigger guy, you shouldn’t go for anything too tight or too close. You don’t want to wear anything baggy or loose if you’re a slim guy.
This appears to be simple sense, but a lot of males get it wrong.
Also, don’t be scared to take your denim to a tailor to have it adjusted.
Make sure you choose a pair of jeans that fits you nicely. And if it’s close but needs adjusting, don’t be scared to purchase it, just make sure it fits perfectly. It has a significant impact.
When it comes to denim, remember to fit, fit, and fit.
Trousers
The next thing on this list is non-denim trousers, which are a basic fashion piece that every man should have in his attractive wardrobe.
So many guys go to that, yet there are a plethora of other options available.
I prefer to keep my jeans basic in general. To me, they’re a blank canvas on which you may paint whatever you want.
Chinos, on the other hand, are a terrific place to start if you want something that stands out and is a little distinctive.
They’re constructed of cotton and come in a range of colors. You may get these for a very low price. Make sure they’re fitted to fit your physique properly.
If it’s incredibly hot outside and you need something breathable, linen is a good option; it also makes fantastic trousers.
Now that the weather is cooler, you have a number of options, including cavalry twill, moleskin, and flannel.
It doesn’t have to be gray flannel all of the time. You can wear casual jean-style pants with a flannel weave and a nap weave. And this is particularly appealing in the autumn, winter, and spring. They’re just a little bit warmer on cooler days, and they appear dressier than jeans.
Get a pair in a neutral color, like gray or olive, and they’ll match with a lot of your tops. It’s simply a fantastic method to stand out from the crowd.
Crewneck T-shirt
The classic crewneck t-shirt is next on the list. And I believe you should have a few of these in your wardrobe at all times.
Make sure it suits your physique, whether you go for a low-cost option or a high-end option.
It’s not something you’d wear on its own if you’re a little heavier, but it can be worn as a layering piece if you’re a little heavier.
What about graphic tees?
I frequently throw them under the bus because I don’t believe they’re as beneficial as most men believe.
They’ve been overdone and overplayed. I like a solid-colored tee because, unless you’re getting paid by a brand, why would you want to wear their logo on your body?
Instead, choose something that will be versatile, interchangeable, and can be used as a layering piece even if you’re a hefty person who shouldn’t be wearing a t-shirt by itself.
If you’re a bit larger or in terrific form and want to better show off your chest, or if you’re a slimmer guy, consider a V-neck t-shirt.
V-necks are one of my favorite styles, especially when they fit well in the arm and chest areas, since it highlights the chest, attracts attention to that area, and it’s simply a wonderful looking style.
Henley
Now that we’ve covered casual t-shirts, let’s move on to henleys.
The henley is a different piece that I like since it has a little bit of style detail in the front, such as two or four buttons.
It doesn’t have the collar, so it is going to be much more casual. It can be worn in almost any scenario where a V-neck or t-shirt would be appropriate.
But what I enjoy about henleys is that they come in a variety of styles, including long-sleeved henleys. There’s something about it that appeals to me, and as a skinny guy, I appreciate the fact that you can roll them up to your mid forearm.
It thickens the arm area, making you appear more powerful and macho.
Casual Button Down Shirt
Next up is the casual button down, which should not be confused with a formal shirt.
White is the standard color for a formal shirt. They’ll be light blue with some stripes or patterns on them.
Dress shirts, on the other hand, are designed to be worn with a suit or a sports jacket. As a layering piece, a casual button down can be worn on its own.
It’ll most likely be constructed of a heavier fabric, such as oxford or cotton with a twill or heavier weave.
And one of the things I enjoy about casual button downs is that they will have collars. The collar, meanwhile, does an excellent job of framing the face. This is one of those items that should be in every man’s closet.
Jacket
A jacket is the next essential fashion item that every man should have in his closet.
I’m referring to sports jackets, leather jackets, and jean jackets when I say jacket. You discover a look that suits you.
Yes, I believe that every man should own a sports jacket, but I understand that the vast majority of men will be unable to pull it off.
They frame up the shoulders and slim down the waist. They simply enhance your appearance.
But, if you don’t want to go with that style of jacket, consider a leather jacket. It performs many of the same functions. It simply gives you a more macho appearance.
Jean jackets are a good option. Other lightweight coats, such as fatigue jackets, will slim down your shape, giving you a more enhanced appearance and making you appear taller.
That’s why I like the jacket and why I placed it in here, especially if you live somewhere where it gets cool at least one season. Bring that jacket in and utilize it as a layering piece.
Even if it stays warm for the most of the year in your area, search for a thin jacket that is breathable. There are coats, particularly sports jackets, that are designed for summer and are unlined, allowing you to wear them even in the heat.
Dark-colored Suit
You should have one dark suit that makes you look beautiful and that you have on hand for those key occasions in your life when you need to dress up quickly.
Maybe there’s a last-minute wedding, or a friend has died and you’ve been asked to be a pallbearer at his burial.
Those are occasions when you want to show respect, look your best, and don’t want to have to rush out and get something that will make you look like a clown and won’t fit you.
A dark suit, either charcoal gray or navy, a white dress shirt, and a tie, preferably in a darker blue or a darker red maroon or something like.
That, and a pair of dress shoes that don’t really stand out. You may choose for a pair of wholecuts, which look fantastic. Alternatively, you might stick to Balmoral oxford classics.
The point is to have that attire available for those moments when you need it. It makes you feel amazing, especially when you know it fits and flatters you.
Watch
The next essential component in every fashionable man’s wardrobe is a watch.
Watches are fascinating because the more you learn about them, the more you understand that they are more about the story and your relationship with time than they are about the watch.
I began by collecting field watches. Then I looked at pilot watches, but I was never very interested in them.
I have a few dress watches, and they’re rather lovely. I’ve finally decided on dive watches. That’s a bit of a sweet spot for me. I have the ability to dress them up or down.
To put it another way, this is one of those pieces of male jewelry with which you may have a good time.
There are many styles to choose from; select one that suits you and have fun with it.
