How to Look Put Together and Elegant Every Day!

how to look put together

In this article, I’d want to discuss how to look put together, as well as some simple strategies to look elegant and polished at all times.

These are a few tips that will help you look your best every day with minimal effort.

Let’s get this party started.

3 Colors Per Outfit

Keep your attire to no more than three colors.

Of course, this is a fairly broad rule, but three colors is a great sweet spot in my opinion. It guarantees that your clothing has some diversity, so it’s not all drab and a touch lifeless.

However, it also prevents it from going extreme. As a result, you won’t feel overpowered by your outfit.

You will appear thoughtful if you stick to this plan. It looks like you know exactly what you’re doing.

I like to pair two neutrals with one accent color to keep things simple. The neutrals provide a solid foundation for my outfit, while the accent color adds some personality.

My basic colors tend to be black, white, grey, camel, or navy because of my personal style and preferences.

Maroon or a burgundy tone are my accent colors. Then there’s usually a hint of green, occasionally a lighter blue.

All of this works quite well together. When it comes to color, I can mix and match constantly and never feel overwhelmed, and I always appear elegant and put together when I stick to the rule of threes.

Accessories

Next, don’t overlook the importance of accessorizing.

We put a lot of effort into curating our closets and focusing on wearable fundamentals. T-shirts, button-downs, and a beautiful pair of jeans are examples.

But, when it comes down to it, accessories are what truly make an outfit, what transforms your particular style, and what truly sets you different.

Scarves, excellent earrings, a watch, rings, your favorite barrette or hair item, and perhaps a hat are all good examples. They’re all available to us, and some of them can be the missing piece to a beautiful outfit.

I know that when I get dressed and put on my basics, I’ll be satisfied with my ensemble. But the moment I add an accessory to my attire, I feel completely transformed.

I have quite a few in my closet, and I encourage that you do the same. R eally trying to figure out what those are for you, whether it’s a hairpiece, a hat, or a fantastic scarf. Then just have fun with them, incorporating them into your particular style.

Texture

The next step is to include at least two textures in each outfit.

This is especially useful if you prefer to wear the same hue throughout your outfit, from head to toe, and monochromatic outfits are your thing.

By simply changing the texture of one piece, you may add visual intrigue to your outfit and transform it from drab to fabulous.

This is something I really enjoy doing with materials like chunky knits, denim, leather, faux leather, and faux fur. Simply put, anything that adds a burst of color to your ensemble is fantastic.

Even something as easy as putting on a basic sweater and then adding a different texture, a hair item, or a silk scarf may make a big difference. That contrast adds a lot to the look of your clothing.

That’s something I really enjoy doing.

When I’m undecided about what to wear, I’ll choose the same color for my top and bottom, but change the texture in at least one of them. It never fails to amaze me.

Plan Your Outfits

The third step is to plan your clothing, which is perhaps my favorite from this entire post.

It dramatically changed things for me when I started doing this for my particular style.

Not only did I feel better about my clothes, but I was also able to throw together some pretty nice outfits in a hurry.

I strongly advise you to spend some time on Pinterest looking for some of your favorite clothing items. Maybe it’s a nice pair of pants or a white shirt. Save a few of those photographs and experiment with them in your own closet.

Take pictures of anything that looks wonderful, store them in a folder on your phone, and when you’re ready to get dressed and you’re stuck, go back to those photos and you’ll have an excellent assortment of costumes at your disposal.

It’s so useful that I can’t tell you how much better it’s made me feel, and I strongly advise you to do the same.

Shoes

Shoes, in my opinion, have the power to completely modify an outfit.

I have a few outfit formulas that I use frequently, such as a t-shirt and jeans. I transformed the entire feel of that outfit just by switching out my shoes.

My advice is to switch out your casual shoes for something a little more sophisticated. Alternatively, something a little more refined.

Swap your shoes for a polished loafer, a really excellent ballerina flat, or a slingback instead of something you wear all the time or something that’s towards the end of its life and looking a bit ragged. Something with a delicate heel, yet just enough to elevate your ensemble to the next level.

It’s one of my favorite recommendations since it’s sometimes all you need to change the way you look at your clothes.

It’s something I’m striving to grow better at because I’m always pleased with the results when I do it.

Proportions

It’s critical to keep your outfits proportionate and balanced to you and your particular shape if you want to look stylish every day.

It’s something over which you have a great deal of control.

My advice is in two parts.

The first step is to experiment with proportions. Replace your slim jacket with a looser-fitting trouser instead of your same slim blazer and slim pants. Alternatively, something with a higher waistline.

That is how it deceives the eye. Have fun with them and see what you can come up with.

The second aspect is to remember that a tailor is always available.

Tailors, or if you sew on your own, have the capacity to completely modify a garment you already own and play with proportions.

Adding shoulder pads, raising the hem or letting out the hem, or moving the sleeves up or bringing the waist in slightly on something are all great ways to fool the eye and play with how items look in your closet.

You may take your favorite basic sweater and match it with jeans that are longer in length and have a higher rise to completely change the way you look at it.

Ironing

The next step is to iron and steam your garments.

I understand that this is tedious, and unless you adore ironing, this will be the least pleasurable aspect of getting ready.

However, it is an essential component of ensuring that your attire looks excellent and that you appear chic every day.

It really drapes nicer on your body when you take the effort to make sure your clothes don’t have any excessive creasing or wrinkles.

I believe it makes a significant impact, and I always feel better after taking the time to do so.

It’s a great little personal ritual that I’ve incorporated into my morning routine.

In a similar vein, I advise you to avoid being bogged down by this. Don’t let it get out of hand. Don’t let the fact that certain fabrics wrinkle make you think you can’t wear them.

Don’t let the fear of wrinkles prevent you from sitting down and enjoying life.

Definitely take advantage of everything that life has to offer. However, when you initially get dressed, take the time to make sure that everything looks as well as it possibly can.

Styling

When all is said and done, the styling is what makes the difference between an outfit you love and one you don’t.

Even if you’re wearing the identical item as someone else, it will seem radically different due to the way you’ve fashioned it on your own body and according to your own particular preferences.

My advice is to keep styling in mind at all times.

Things like rolling your sleeves or popping your collar, tucking or belting your clothes, and wearing them loose and big.

These are all aspects that we can manage, and they all contribute to the thoughtfulness of your clothing.

There are some factors that have a direct impact on your unique style. People notice all of your considerate touches when they look at you. They might not notice them all at once, but they’ll notice the whole picture and think to themselves, “Wow, she really knows what works for her, what she loves, and what makes her feel fantastic.”

That, I believe, makes you shine, and when you do, people want to be around you, love your style, and all the other wonderful things we seek.

I strongly advise you to spend some time experimenting with styling and identifying a few key pieces that you can rely on to elevate your look.

That is all there is to it.

Those are some simple techniques to look put together and elegant on a daily basis. I hope you enjoyed it and that it motivated you to try something different the next time you get ready.
