Very Easy Updo Hairstyle
This next video is about a messy/loose easy up-do hairstyle. This simple low bun is the perfect wedding hairstyle, bridesmaid, prom, formal, or wedding guest look. This romantic updo works wonderfully on medium – long hair lengths, and with the right hair prep can work great for thin hair.
Introduction & Hair Prep (00:00–00:30):
- The creator introduces a messy updo, which is easy to recreate for weddings, proms, or special occasions.
- Hair prep is essential for this updo. The process starts with lightly spraying sections of hair with hairspray and brushing it through.
- All the hair is curled away from the face using a one-inch barrel curling iron. Once cooled, the curls are gently combed with a wide-tooth comb to create soft movement.
- Texture spray is applied, mainly focusing on the crown, to add grip and volume, which is key for the updo’s base.
Sectioning the Hair (00:30–01:02):
- Hair is sectioned off from the part to the top of each ear, and these sections are set aside for later.
- The rest of the hair (excluding the crown) is gathered into a low ponytail, helping to keep the volume intact.
- The crown section is gently pulled and pinched to create more height and volume, which gives the hairstyle its effortless, messy look.
Creating the Bun (01:02–01:38):
- The ponytail is split into two equal sections.
- Starting with the right section, the hair is twisted loosely clockwise toward the face, then wrapped counterclockwise over the ponytail.
- Before wrapping it completely, the twist is anchored to the right side of the head using a pin. The remaining twist is secured on the left side, with ends tucked underneath.
- The left section of the ponytail is twisted clockwise away from the face, brought over the bun, and pinned on the opposite side. Any loose layers are allowed to fall out for added texture.
Securing & Adding Volume (01:38–02:10):
- Once the twists are secured, the ends of the bun are tucked away and pinned tightly.
- The creator uses French pins for added hold, but bobby pins work just as well.
- She then pinches and pulls the twists to give the hairstyle more volume and texture, enhancing the updo’s messy, effortless look.
Finishing Touches (02:10–02:40):
- The sections that were initially set aside from the part are now pulled back. Face-framing pieces are left out to soften the look.
- These sections are twisted once or twice away from the face, brought over the bun, and pinned to either side.
- The final step is pinching and pulling the newly created twists to soften them up and complete the textured, voluminous updo.
High Bun Updo Hairstyle
This easy hair tutorial is not only quick and simple but ‘90s inspired. This high bun updo looks beautiful on long hair and medium hair lengths and only takes a few minutes to recreate.
This easy hairstyle is perfect for weddings, proms, bridal, bridesmaids, wedding guests, formal, or as a simple everyday hairstyle.
How to recreate this high bun up-do
• Loosely gather your hair into a mid ponytail so your hair swoops over your ear.
• Gently use your fingers or a fine tooth comb to smooth your hair and then pull out face framing pieces.
• Tightly hold your ponytail in your left hand, and with your right tightly twist your ponytail counterclockwise once bringing it to the top to create a twist at your crown.
• Secure into place with French pins by sliding them through the outside of your twist to the right, pushing them against your head, and sliding them in towards the center.
• Repeat until secure.
• Divide the remaining hair into 4 sections.
• First gather the top right section of your hair, & wrap it around your fingers leaving out some ends, I wrapped twice.
• Hold your loop against your head above your twist so you can see it from the front, with your ends trailing out the side, and secure both sides into place with bobby pins.
• Repeat with the left side, pining beside your previous loop so it looks balanced.
• Repeat with your 2 remaining sections, pining them just below your previous loops.
• Use hair gel to stick those neck hairs into place.
• Finish off the look with Moroccan oil shine spray.
