If you’ve ever wondered what happens when high-fashion luxury meets a classic childhood storybook, Chanel’s fall/winter 2026/27 haute couture collection gives you the exact answer.
For his second couture show as Artistic Director, Matthieu Blazy turned the Grand Palais into a overgrown, fairytale set—complete with climbing beanstalk vines and wild, blooming flowers crawling up the walls.
Dubbed “Gaby and the Beanstalk,” the whole vibe was inspired by an old copy of a fairytale book (Les Fées, Contes des Contes) that Blazy found sitting right on the shelf in Coco Chanel’s actual Paris apartment library.

The Big Highlights
1. Storybook Details (Without Looking Like Costumes)
Instead of putting models in literal Halloween-style outfits, the fairy tale motifs were super clever, subtle, and built into the construction of the clothes:
- Beanstalk Tweeds: Guipure lace was woven to look like climbing vines and magic beans running down traditional Chanel suits.
- Goldilocks & The Bears: Cozy, furry-textured coats and bear-shaped mini bags (minaudières) made an appearance.
- The Ugly Duckling: Coat and jacket buttons subtly transformed step-by-step from tiny ducklings into full-grown swans along the front trim.
- Magic Heels: Heels on shoes featured golden egg shapes and climbing vine designs wrapped all the way up.
2. Secret “Inside-Only” Details
One of the coolest parts of the collection is that Blazy hid a ton of Easter eggs specifically for the person wearing the clothes. Hand-painted silk linings, secret handwritten-style notes tucked into jacket pockets, and tiny talisman charms attached to Chanel’s signature chain hems. Unless you are the one wearing the jacket, you won’t even see them—which is kind of the ultimate flex for personal luxury.

Layered pastels—think delicate lavender-pinks, cornflower blues, and soft mints—stole the show in weightless silk mousseline. Blazy also broke tradition by sending the Chanel Couture Bride out 13 looks before the finale, ending the show instead with a timeless, dramatic Little Black Dress.
